February Newsletter
"Retreats and World"
February will be a strategic month in "pursuing LIFE together" as a church.
February is a marquee month for retreats. The women's retreat is February 5-7, and the men's retreat is February 19-21. Retreats are for the purpose of refocusing and re-energizing for the mission of being the church and reaching the world. Jesus retreated often. There never was a person with a more strategic agenda than His agenda, and He had crowds of people following Him everywhere He went.
But He took time deliberately to get away - to LOVE, to INVEST, to FOLLOW, in order to re-ENGAGE. In His retreats He took time to renew His love for His Father, to invest time with His disciples away from the rush of day-to-day ministry, to keep focusing on the mission of following His Father's plan, and He did it all to finish well in giving His life for the world.
I believe that His pattern is the purpose for our retreats. We get away to refocus our lives on loving God, investing in relationships with each other, refocusing on the mission of following Christ, all for the purpose of engaging our world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
My prayer is that God will use both the women's and men's retreats to this end.
Men, let's pray well for the women of DBC as they go - that God will use this weekend in a powerful way in their lives and in the life of DBC.
Women, let's pray well for the men of DBC as they go - that God will use this weekend in a powerful way in their lives and in the life of DBC.
Finally, on February 28 we will have the opportunity and privilege of having pastor Enoch Wang from the Chinese Church in China preach at DBC. This will be a special Sunday of focusing on engaging the world. Our DEM team met pastor Wong in China last summer on their mission trip, and we believe God has a special purpose for bringing him to Dallas Bible Church this month. Pray expectantly already for what God wants to do through him in DBC on Sunday, February 28.
I'm praying that God will shake us and encourage us mightily as a church in February. Won't you join me in praying to that end?
Joyfully and expectantly,
Pastor Hal
Men - It's Your Turn to Retreat!
The guys of DBC will return to Pine Cove Bluffs Retreat Center on February 19th - 21st. Bill Peel will join us for the weekend as our guest speaker. Bill's passion for helping Christians discover their calling and recognize how to impact their world for Christ in the midst of everyday life is contagious! We all talk about wanting to be closer to God. Now is the time to do something about it. Join us at the Men's Retreat for great food, guy activities and a great speaker.

DBC Business Forum News
The New Year has started off with a "BANG" and the Forum has relocated to the La Madeleine Café at the southeast corner of Belt Line Rd. and Montfort in N. Dallas.
On January 11th, we heard from Ray Sturdivant and had fifteen gathered.
Ray talked to us about his life, how the LORD directed his paths and how he had to wait on the LORD for answered prayer. The Lord showed incredible mercy during those trials but, as HE says in ROMANS 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose.
We want to encourage YOU in the name of our Lord to invite your business associates to lunch, believers and unbelievers alike, to come out and experience this gathering. We are learning to do business God's way while at the same time making connections to further our work for HIM. Come and be a part of this fruitful ministry. Help us grow by bringing friends to participate, for He says in MATTHEW 18:20 For where two or three have gathered in My name, I am there in their midst.
Over the past two years we have had many great speakers to encourage us. We are scheduling speakers for the next several meetings and have some great stories of encouragement you will not want to miss. We would love to hear YOUR suggestions for future speaker recommendations.
If you have questions about this group call Steve Hendry anytime at 214.908.9188.

These ladies exceed in showing these children their love for the Lord and for each of them as precious gifts that they have been blessed to teach and care for! If you would like to be a part of our Thursday program either as a substitute teacher or to enroll your child contact JaciBuczek@hotmail.com or call the church office.

Dinner with Ramesh Richards - March 25th
This event is an exciting opportunity for evangelism to people in our community. Success is amazing. Yet the pursuit of success at the expense of one's soul is a poor exchange. So how can one be successfully successful? A spiritual philosopher and global mentor, Dr. Ramesh Richard will share a decisive strategy for preserving one's soul while pursuing the full enjoyment of life. At the end of his talk, Dr. Richard will give a clear and concise gospel presentation challenging those in attendance to turn their life and their work over to God. At the request of Dr. Richard himself, this event is solely for the purpose of presenting the gospel to people who have not yet accepted Christ. Therefore, as Christians, it is our challenge to only invite people who do not yet know Jesus to attend the event.
